island, and soon became home to Our Lady of the Rocks Church in the 15th century.

by renown painter Tripo Kokolja, a Kotor native regarded as a master of his craft. You’ll also be
able to view the Icon of Our Lady of the Rocks, one of the many wonders you’ll find in these
fairytale parts.
One particular piece stands out among the rest in the Church: a votive tapestry embroidered by
Perast native Jacinta Kunić-Mijović. The tapestry, initially designed while she waited for her
lover to return from a long journey, was a massive undertaking. It took her twenty-five years to
make, though she sadly went blind before she could complete it. The tapestry was made with
strands of Kunić-Mijović’s hair, which turned its fibres from gold to silver as the years went on. It
serves as a spectacular showcase both of the passage of time and of one woman’s
determination across decades.
