More About this tour

From the depths of submarine tunnels to the heights of Mamula Island, this private, extensive
tour of the Bay of Kotor is sure to be the highlight of your trip to Montenegro.
You will begin in Kotor, a UNESCO protected heritage site and the namesake for Europe’s

southernmost fjord. Your friendly skipper will help you on board and lead you across the Adriatic
Sea, home to all manner of sights and wonders.
Your first stop is the crown jewel of the Bay of Kotor: the beautiful islet of Our Lady of the
Rocks. The only man-made island in the Bay, Our Lady of the Rocks was so dubbed by two
fishermen after they found an icon of St. Mary chiseled on the side of a rock. From then on, to
honour St. Mary, local sailors and fishermen made a vow to throw rocks where the Lady had
been found. The rocks soon grew into an island, which became home to Our Lady of the Rocks
Church in the 15th century.

Once you are done touring the island, you will then travel to a submarine tunnel from the
Yugoslavian Socialist period. Although this tunnel has since been abandoned, it is still open to
the public, and you will have the rare opportunity to explore this piece of history up close. You
can even swim inside!

From there, you will journey to the “mouth” of the Bay, where Mamula Island stands. Although it
used to be an Austro-Hungarian prison, it has since transformed into a beautiful island resort.
Enjoy the panoramic views Mamula Island can offer you, a uniquely entertaining and historical
stop.

Up next on your journey is the mesmerizing Blue Cave. So named for its shimmering waters,
the first sight of Blue Cave will leave you breathless, as if you had been transported to another
world. Enjoy swimming inside the cave’s entrance as you wrap up your tour, an enchanting
experience you’ll be sure to remember.

Everyone dreams of becoming a wealthy star, even if for a moment. Turn that dream into a
reality on your next stop in Porto Montenegro. Often called the Monaco of this country’s
coastline. Enjoy the various sights and cafes around town as you explore this playground for the
wealthy. Just one stroll down its elegant promenade will make you feel like an international star.

You’ll then find yourself transported to a fishing village frozen in time. The village of Perast will
greet you with open arms. Baroque palaces surround it on all sides, stretching into the
mountainous landscape above. Enjoy the breathtaking view of the cliffs above the waves,
darkened only by the black forest for which Montenegro got its name. This captivating contrast,
sure to stay with you long after the tour, has previously inspired authors across the centuries.
One such author, Lord Byron, once wrote that he believed, “At the birth of the planet, the most
beautiful encounter between land and sea must have been on the Montenegrin coast.”

After the tour finishes, you’ll head straight back to Kotor, but the glitz and glamour of your
experience will never leave you. Don’t miss out on an opportunity to book now for a truly special
treat!
